Akbhar

An AI-powered news app that turns any article into bite-sized information — three reading formats that match how you want to consume the news, not how publishers want to deliver it.

Context & Insight

There is too much news and not enough time to read it.

People are not uninformed because they don't care. They are uninformed because the format of news is broken. A full article takes five to ten minutes to read. Most people have thirty seconds. The result is that headlines replace understanding, and skimming replaces reading.

The problem is not the volume of information — it is the absence of structure. News articles are written to be read linearly, from top to bottom. But most readers don't read that way. They want the answer first, the context second, and the detail only if they choose to go deeper.

Approach

Three formats for three kinds of reader.

The core insight behind Akbhar is that different people need different things from the same article. A busy executive needs the one-line takeaway. A curious reader wants to understand the context. An analyst wants to know what the problem was and what changed.

Rather than choosing one summarisation style, Akbhar uses AI to generate all three — on demand, from any article — giving the user control over how deeply they engage with any given story.

The three reading formats

TL;DR

A single-paragraph summary of the full article. The fastest possible way to understand what happened and whether it matters to you.

What / Why / How

Three short answers that give context: what happened, why it matters, and how it came about. Designed for people who want to understand the story, not just the headline.

Problem / Solution / Result

A structured breakdown for analytical reading — what the problem was, what was done about it, and what the outcome was. Useful for business, policy, and technology news.

Key Decisions

Why we built it this way.

The stack was chosen to support a reliable, scalable AI pipeline that could handle high request volumes across both platforms without compromising response speed.

React Native

Cross-platform delivery to iOS and Android from a single codebase. Critical for reaching the widest audience without doubling the build effort.

Azure

Cloud infrastructure for scalable backend services, authentication, and storage. Provides the reliability and compliance needed for a consumer-facing news product.

AI Foundry

Model management and orchestration layer that handles the AI summarisation pipeline — enabling structured output in each of the three reading formats consistently.

Current Status

In final deployment.

Akbhar has completed development and is currently in the deployment phase — infrastructure configuration, app store submission, and production environment setup. The core AI summarisation pipeline is built and tested across all three reading formats.

This page will be updated with outcomes and user data once the app is live.
